Family Advocate 

Program: Head Start

Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt, for 37.5 hours per week, 44 weeks per year (Program-year with summers off), with benefits

Job Function: Responsible for implementing the core family partnership, parent involvement, and community partnership functions for the center –based option of a Head Start/Early Head Start program.

Education/Experience: Associate's degree (A. A.) in Human Services, Family Development Credential or   related field or equivalent; plus minimum of two years’ experience in Human Services; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a Valid NYS Driver License with acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving Record.

Work Environment/Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.

Assistant Teacher

Program: Head Start

Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt, for 37.5 hours per week, 44 weeks per year (Program-year with summers off), with benefits

Job Function: Assist and share the daily responsibilities with the classroom teacher in providing a secure and positive learning environment which will enable each child to obtain the awareness and skills necessary for a successful transition into Kindergarten.

Education/Experience: CDA credential or a state-awarded certificate that meets the requirements for a CDA credential, are enrolled in a program that will lead to an associate or baccalaureate degree or, are enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of the time of hire.

Program: Early Head Start

Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt, for 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year (full year), with benefits

Job Function: Design and implement a variety of active plans to stimulate and sustain the interest of young children, and that contribute to their social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development.

Education/Experience: Minimum Infant / Toddler Child Development Accreditation (CDA), Associate's degree (A. A.) in Early Childhood Education preferred or equivalent coursework in early childhood education, specific to caring for children Birth – 3 years old.

Classroom Substitute(s)

Program: Head Start/Early Head Start

Status: Variable hour, opportunity for up-to 37.5 hours per week-dependent on availability

Job Function: Under guidance of the Classroom Supervisor and/or lead teaching staff, plan and coordinate the administration and implementation of the Educational Services Functional Area of the Performance Standards and other education requirements.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); prefer related experience and/or training in a child care setting. Should have a strong desire to work with children birth – 5 years old.

Work Environment/Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. Healthy Families Program

CAPCO is the proud new grantee of the Healthy Families New York grant. The Healthy Families New York home visiting program matches parents with knowledgeable and caring workers who provide information and support during pregnancy and early childhood. Services include helping families access community resources and services, educating families on parenting and child development, connecting families with medical providers, and assessing children for developmental delays.

 

With the Program being established in the Spring of 2018, it is anticpitated that the Pogram will recruitment additional Family Support staff in the Fall of 2018. CAPCO will be recruiting for the following additional full-time Healthy Families New York positions in the Fall of 2018:

 

 Family Support Worker (2): 

 

Responsible for establishing a trusting relationship with families through initiating and maintaining regular, long term contact with families for the purpose of strengthening the parent-child relationship, providing child development information, offering support in the areas of goal setting and problem solving.

Associates degree in human services or related field and at least 1 year experience working with at risk families and/or children or High school diploma / GED plus three years life/work experience caring for young children or providing family development services required.
