Keeping People Warm for the Winter

The CAPCO Annual Coat Giveaway was held on Saturday, Oct. 20. Thanks to the generous donations from the community, more than 500 items found new homes with 59 families. This free event means more than 300 men, women and children have “new” coats, hats, gloves and mittens to keep them warm this winter. The event was held at the Birch Building at Suggett Park. Many thanks to the Cortland Youth Bureau for making the space available. It was the perfect location to display the coats and for people in the community to gather to “shop”. CAPCO collects gently worn, good quality coats.. Staff and volunteers from the community sort, hang and display the merchandise for people to choose the coats they can use for themselves and their families. Donations are still being accepted as many requests for this warm, winter items are received over the next few months. To make a donation or for more information, please contact Brandy Strauf at CAPCO, 607-753-6781. The coats will be available through Family Essentials, open Tuesdays and Thursdays at the CAPCO Main Office, 32 N. Main Street, Cortland.
